Today we are celebrating Natura 2000 Network day!

Natura 2000 is an European ecological network for the conservation of biodiversity areas. The network is composed of Special Areas of Conservation (SAC) established in line with the Habitat Directive.

Within Life Nieblas, our reforestation area in Gran Canaria is classified as SAC integrated within habitat 4050 'Endemic Macaronesian Heath'.

The aim of Natura 2000 is to ensure long-term survival of habitats and especies living within them in Europe. Hence contributing to stop biodiversity loss. This network is the main resource and instrument for nature protection in the European Union.
