  • Life Nieblas PROMO 2024

Life Nieblas Newsletter 11th edition is here! A special edition reflecting the results obtained in our project throughout these 4 years of work. 2024 brings some documents full of scientific conclusions to facilitate the spread of knowledge and implementation of our fog collection techniques, in addition to reforestation strategies.

This technical experience is already a reality with solvent results capable of being permeable to any location where sustainable fog harvesting is possible. Our new explanatory video accompanying this edition invites you to fly for three minutes, allowing you to enter into this wonderful journey towards the magic of turning the clouds on the surface into pure water. Experience it!

  • WORLD WATER DAY

Today, 22nd March, World Water Day, we look to the sky with gratitude as we watch our lands being irrigated. In an increasingly pressing context of climate change where water scarcity is being felt in the progressive desertification of the territory, this day serves to make us aware of our duty to do our bit to be an active part of the care and saving of this liquid element as a key part of the ecosystem.

Nature is so grateful that this precious resource for life can also give it to us in the form of micro-particles through the fog, which when united form millions of drops of water in what is known as "horizontal rain", giving meaning to our work of demonstrating that there are alternatives that are totally compatible with an efficient and ecological management of our planet.

We are sharing a video produced by BRITA in regards to World Water Day.

  • Assembling and instalation of an innovative fog collector i_FWC - SUB ENG

Our field team explains how to assemble and install these innovative fog collectors (i_FWC) in the field. Such colelctors have been develoepd by Life Nieblas.

  • Monitoring Meeting 2023

Presentation of the monitoring meeting, which took place from March 16 to 17 in Gran Canaria. This video explains the objectives of this event, the successes achieved by the project as well as the integration of Life Nieblas in the priorities of the European Union.

  • How to build your own tunnel
  • Lab testing on the wind tunnel

An ICIA engineer showing how the wind tunnel used to develop the i-FWC works.

  • Wind Tunnel Construction

How our partners from ICIA and ULL have designed and built a wind tunnel for lab testing phase of the Innovative Fog water collector (i-FWC)

  • Timelapse - Weather station installation

⏱️Weather station timelapse 📡🛰️Life Nieblas' team has installed a weather station through which weather patterns are logged and analysed. ✅Results derived from weather data will help us understand how fog behaves in this area and also identify weather patterns and extreme conditions events. Such parameters include: 🧭Wind speed & direction 👁️Visibility 🌧️Rain accumulation ☀️Radiation index 💧Dew point 🌦️Relative humidity 📊Monitoring in-situ will be highly valuable when presentating results and drawing conclusions.

  • Spontaneous Vegetation Monitoring

Spontaneous vegetation development will allow us to undertand natural passive development at our restoration site. Here you will learn how to undertake this ecological survey.

  • Soil Sampling Methodology

Soil smapling will tell us about characterists found in a particular area in terms physical conditions, fertility (nutrient) status, and chemical properties that affect their suitability as plant growing media. Here you will learn a simple method on how to take soil samples.

  • Root Development

Root development monitoring will shade some light into our reforestations development underground. This also allows us to find out more about the impact that different soil profiles may have on particular forests. Here you will learn how to evaluate root systems growth.

  • Reforestation Monitoring Methodology

Reforestation monitoring is crucial to ensure that our reforested areas have a healthy development. This also allows us to find out more about the impact that different reforestation methodologies have on particular forests. Here you will learn how to evaluate plant growth.
